On May 7 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Estonia, Tea Akhvlediani held the first working meeting with the newly elected chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia, Mr. Henn Põlluaas.
The key issues of bilateral relations between Georgia and Estonia, as well as priorities of future cooperation have been discussed within the framework of the meeting. The active dynamics of development of bilateral relations between the parliaments of two countries was highlighted.
Ambassador provided a detailed information on the progress achieved by Georgia towards EU integration and NATO membership, as well as the main goals of the country in this context. She also discussed the ongoing democratic reform process in Georgia, highlighted the existing situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, as well as the recent disturbing developments on the occupation line.
The chairman of the Riigikogu underlined Estonia’s firm support of towards Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within it’s internationally recognized borders, as well as towards Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Henn Põlluaas welcomed the results achieved by intensive bilateral cooperation, including the parliamentary dimension and expressed hope for further development of relations. Henn Põlluaas expressed gratitude to Ambassador of Georgia for her valuable contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
