Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Estonia Tea Akhvlediani held a farewell meeting with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Estonia Jüri Luik on May 7. Ambassador congratulated Mr. Luik on re-appointment on the position of Defense Minister and wished him success.
Ambassador summed up the results of bilateral cooperation since 2015 and underlined Minister Luik’s personal efforts in Estonia’s active support towards Georgia. The key issues of bilateral relations between Georgia and Estonia in the defense field, as well as priorities of future cooperation have also been discussed within the framework of the meeting. Tea Akhvlediani informed the Estonian side about the progress achieved with regards to Georgia's NATO membership, the security situation in the country and the alarming developments in the occupied regions. She also discussed Georgia's participation and contribution to international peacekeeping missions and reviewed ongoing and implemented reforms in the country.
The Minister provided high assessment to the results achieved by the developed bilateral cooperation and emphasized the importance of joint participation in military exercises. Jüri Luik once again stressed the unwavering support of the new government of Estonia towards Georgia, especially with regards to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country within the internationally recognized borders, as well as Georgia's integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. Estonian Defense Minister expressed gratitude to Ambassador of Georgia for her valuable contribution to the development of bilateral relations in defense field.
