Ambassador's Welcome Speech
მისასალმებელი სიტყვა
Dear Visitor,
Georgia is a Christian country with a centuries-long history and has always been distinguished by its unique culture and traditions. Today Georgia is openly declaring its aspirations and makes gradual steps towards the membership in the European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
Georgia and Estonia are united first and foremost by shared values, including the love of freedom, strive for independence and respect for democracy. Estonia has been able to transform the country on the way to EU integration and today is a member of NATO and the European Union.
The firm and continuous support of Estonia for Georgia's integration into the EU and NATO, as well as successful sharing of Estonian experience during the process of implementing reforms is of particular importance for my country and our Estonian colleagues are extremely helpful in this.
I would like to particularly underline the significance of Estonia’s support towards Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders, especially in the framework of the UN, as well as other international organizations. We will also never forget the support from Estonia during the Russian military aggression against Georgia in 2008, when the President of the Republic Toomas Hendrik Ilves arrived in Tbilisi to encourage and stand by the Georgian nation in the most difficult days.
The main objective of the Embassy is to protect the national interests of Georgia and its citizens; our daily activity is focused on further strengthening of the existing relationships between Georgia and Estonia in political, economic, cultural and other priority areas.
Thank you for taking time and interest in visiting our webpage. I hope it will be helpful in obtaining more information about bilateral relations between Georgia and Estonia, as well as on the activities of the Embassy. For this purpose, I also invite you to visit our Facebook and Twitter pages.
